IND vs ENG T20 Squad Announcement: Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has returned to the T20 series against England. He will play an international match 14 months after the ODI World Cup final. At the same time, Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj have been rested in this series. BCCI released the team list on Saturday night. Axar Patel has been made the vice-captain of the team, Suryakumar Yadav will captain the team.
Rishabh Pant has not been included in the team, in his place Dhruv Jurel will be the backup wicketkeeper. Sanju Samson will play as the regular wicketkeeper. Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy have also been included in the team.
The first match of the T20 series will be played on January 22. The 3 ODI series will start from February 6. The Indian team for the ODI series and Champions Trophy has not been announced yet.
Spinners Varun Chakraborty and Bishnoi got a place in Team India –
India has given a chance to deadly spinners Varun Chakraborty and Ravi Bishnoi. Washington Sundar is also a part of Team India. Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma and Harshit Rana have also got a place.
Shubhaman-Pant and Yashasvi out of the team –
BCCI has given a break to Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. Both these players are not part of the T20 team. But they can make a place in Team India for ODI and Champions Trophy 2025. But no official information has been received about this. Yashasvi Jaiswal is also not a part of T20 Team India.

Highlights of team selection
- Mohammed Shami is making a comeback after 14 months. He played his last match for India on 19 November 2023. If he proves his fitness in this series, then his chances of joining the Indian team for the Champions Trophy will increase.
- Shivam Dubey, Jitesh Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Avesh Khan have not got a place in the Indian team. Whereas, Dhruv Jurel and Harshit Rana have got a place.
- 4 all-rounders have been included in the form of Nitish Kumar Reddy, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.
- Ramandeep Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Avesh Khan, Yash Dayal and Vijay Kumar, who were part of the team that won the T-20 series against South Africa, have not got a chance.

Mohammed Shami returned from injury for Bengal in a match against Madhya Pradesh in Round 1 of Ranji Trophy. He also played Syed Mushtaq Ali (T20) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (ODI), which increased the chances of his return to the Indian team.
