He hailed from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh and was believed to be around 75 years old. Despite his age, he was considered one of the most dangerous Naxal leaders, skilled in explosives and guerrilla warfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Held top post: CPI (Maoist) General Secretary since 2018<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Armed with AK-47 and led multiple deadly attacks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mastermind behind major Naxal operations in Dantewada, Sukma, and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Vasava Raju was a wanted accused in multiple cases by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nia.gov.in\/\">National Investigation Agency (NIA)<\/a><\/strong>, including a 2019 IED blast that killed five security personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"details-of-the-encounter\"><strong>Details of the Encounter<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Chhattisgarh Police, the encounter began after intelligence inputs about Naxal presence in the <strong>Abujhmad region<\/strong>, a forested and strategically vital area in Bastar division. Teams from multiple District Reserve Guard (DRG) units, including those from <strong>Narayanpur, Bijapur, Dantewada, and Kondagaon<\/strong>, launched a coordinated strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Time: Early hours of May 21, 2025<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place: Abujhmad forest, Bijapur-Narayanpur border<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outcome: 27 Naxals killed, 1 soldier martyred, 1 injured<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Security forces recovered a cache of weapons, including 12-bore rifles, pistols, and explosive material from the encounter site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"police-statement\"><strong>Police Statement<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SP Prabhat Kumar of Narayanpur stated: <em>&#8220;We had credible intel about Naxal movement. Our teams engaged the rebels in a fierce gunfight. Among those neutralized is Vasava Raju, though official confirmation is awaited.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputy CM Vijay Sharma praised the forces: <em>&#8220;This is a heroic act by our DRG teams. The government is committed to peace and invites Naxals to join the mainstream.
